Question by Jared: What are some “landmarks” that are by the side of the Susquehanna River?
Alright, for my project, I have to have some “landmarks” that are by the side of the Susquehanna River/Chesapeake Bay. You have to be able to see them as if you were on the river. I Have a few, and if you could just help, that would be wonderful. A landmark would be something “noteworthy or well-known”

New York is known for the Statue of liberty, the Empire State Building, the city museum of art, and the Brooklyn Bridge among others.

But I know New York has much more to offer. What can I see and do there that will make my stay in New York more memorable?
Robuttox: I’m sorry, but I don’t drink. Can you reckon of anything else?

Best answer:

Answer by robuttox
Greenwich Village is the place to go drinking. Lots of well-known pubs that celebrities go to. Some musicians got their start there. It’s the artsy part of town. It’s near the city college around Ave. of the Americas and 9th St.

Question by : What well-known Montreal city landmarks should we see in 2 days?
My wife & I will be visiting Montreal this weekend. We’re from New York. What places should we not miss? (like times square, statue of liberty, empire state building etc in new york). We have only 2 days. We know nothing about Montreal. Is there a excellent sightseeing tour that we can take? Thanks for your help.
P.S. We dont converse in French at all, would that be a problem? I have heard before that even “STOP signs” are in French. Can we drive around without much problem?

Best answer:

Answer by themaskedfalcon
I would suggest, that you take a walk through Ancient Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, and go to Olympic Stadium/Biodome, etc.. Take a look at http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/Travel-In rank/Getting-Around-Montreal for some walking maps and the location of uncommon sites.
Not speaking french would be fine, most people are willing to converse in english if necessary. Even driving around should be fine, just keep in mind that in Montreal that right on reds are not allowed.

Question by dubgraphix: What are the copyright laws regarding using silhouettes of well-known landmarks and/or buildings?
Im working on a logo for a client and they are requesting a profile of a well-known structure without license or documented permission of use and I was wondering if there are any such copyright laws against this? I’ve never ran across this scenario before as a designer so I’m not sure about this one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer by yellowcar29
In most cases it is ok, but some shapes or silhouettes are trademarked by companies or protected by governments. If it’s very well known then it may be protected. I would try out first.

Can’t go ill-treat anywhere really. A couple of days in Dublin is enough for the finances…Money gone mad there..
Excellent teach and bus service from Dublin,or a bus from Dublin airport over to the west coast for Galway, another decent bus route south from there to Kerry…gorgeous there..lovely places to see…really cute small airport too….cosy..
Cork to Kerry is a lovely route.
Killarney, and do the lakes…heaven on earth…lovely trip that..the town has seen better days, bit touristy now, still lovely, but the lakes and hills…Ooooohhh!…gorgeous!!.. .
From Carlow it’s simple to get to Waterford…see the Waterford Crystal factory..nice visiting tour… nice by the side of the water too…lots of fine buildings, historical place……
Kilkenny Castle is value a trip too….so much around there to see, really doesn’t matter where you go…you’ll be in excellent stuff anywhere.

Cliffs of Moher are very impressive as a day trip from Galway,it’s a nice coach trip round Galway bay and past the Galway Bay Hotel…you can get a lovely supper there while you watch the sun go down over Galway Bay…you’ve really seen it then, not just heard the song…but they don’t do T-shirts,not a touristy joint,…. and then the road climbs into the hills….cosmological landscape..
Stunning,weird,mystical,….
Visitor centre when you get there for snacks and souvenirs …or see the cliffs from below on a small cruise from Galway if you don’t mind boats….same company does trips out to the Aran Islands…. or you can go by plane…only a few minutes on the plane, but ages getting to it from Galway. It’s out in the sticks..
Ferry doesn’t run in rough seas though..
.Fantastic pubs in Galway for music…they keep the music and dance alive there.
I’ve known a whole pub fall silent to let a guy sing…try that anywhere else..A lovely Irish purpose was singing and I held my phone up so my mother could hear it in the south of England, and the guy was delighted. Quite overcome really.
And the landlord bought me a pint!…What a place…lovely…..
The Crane is the top spot for gigs, and there are others if it’s too crowded there..it gets very well loved..wonderful evenings there, head buzzing with music when you leave…glorious!
Lovely small place,Galway…quite scenic too. Quay Street,Spanish Arch, very pretty …
Doolin’s the same, further south … small place..pretty..it’s got the music…lovely country around too…. Right down south is the Dingle Peninsular…gorgeous, you’ll never want to leave….

Dublin’s nice, but very expensive…excellent nightlife in Temple Bar and some lovely architecture and gardens the planet over ..Stevens Green gardens are nice if you’re up Trinity way..excellent place for a rest…..and some gorgeous doors all over town,if you take the distress to look…well-known for them, is Dublin.
.Trinity College is value seeing,Phoenix Park,the zoo….
Loads up the north too…some very pretty places up there..gorgeous Antrim glens …the Giant’s Pathway,….
Lough Neah,lovely..the largest natural lake in Britain,20 miles long…or you could stay in Newcastle on the coast south of Belfast with the Mountains of Mourne rising up behind it…lovely small place…
Belfast itself even,it’s really nice, lots to see on the coast or inland..some lovely places to see around there….how many months did you say you were going for…..? You’ll need them.
Fáilte
