What’s the best guide book for a thru-hike on the AT?
Question by CrashIntoThings: What’s the best guide book for a thru-hike on the AT?
I am climbing the AT in march and don’t know how far I will end up going. I thought I would get a thru-hike manual so that every part of the trail I could possibly see is covered. There are many choices though and I was wondering if there are any thru-hikers or near-thru-hikers out there who can tell me which book is most useful.

it’s not a guide book, but please consider reading ‘A walk in the woods’ by Bill Bryson. it’s about his adventures on the AT, and absolutely entertaining.

I’m plotting on starting my NOBO between 4/1 & 4/7 .Go to http://www.whiteblaze.net get an ID and start alternative peoples brains about what they know
Since for me this hike is on my memorable pail list I’m gonna kind of wing it until i get to the other side of the Smokies and then I’ll fine tune it .
I am by no means an inexperienced hiker so I can actualy do that and still succeed
Excellent luck
